Elementary level (A1 and A2) ]

This level is designed to teach you basic language structures and vocabulary for use in ordinary everyday life. Spoken French and oral comprehension are emphasised, but written French is not neglected. By the end of the course, you will be able to get by in French. You will be able to manage simple conversations and to communicate information about yourself to someone else.

Intermediate level (B1 and B2)

By the end of this level you will be able to communicate in more complex situations. This course revises and deepens your understanding of syntax and grammar. You will learn how to express your opinions and feelings more accurately and become familiar with the various registers of French. Our approach emphasises the ability to communicate but does not neglect the French way of life. Intermediate students make use of a wide range of cultural resources : press articles, videos, audio recordings, literary works, songs, etc. Morning classes are devoted to French language and grammar while those in the afternoon are devoted to a particular cultural theme, discussed or introduced through a variety of media. By the end of your course, you will have encountered a broad croos-section of French culture and language.

Advanced level (level C1)

This level is for those who are already comfortable speaking French. It consists of a study of contemporary French society, its manners and mindset, through newspapers, radio, cinema and television and gives you the ability to express yourself clearly and fluently in the language. Students perfect their written French by producing summaries of texts, including news reports and written arguments. The content of lessons depends on a class's ability and needs, but can include further work on grammar and vocabulary. To assess your level or find out what exams you can take, go to our page on the subject.

One-to-one tuition

If you have very little time you may require tailor-made lessons which meet precisely with your requirements, for example: exam preparation, to improve your comprehension and oral expression, specialised vocabulary corresponding to your profession, etc. Individual lessons can be taken as a complement to group classes, or if you prefer you can opt for one-to-one tuition only. Together we will establish a programme entirely adapted to your personal needs, the minimum tuition being 15 hours of lessons per week. To save time we will ask you to send us your study objectives prior to your arrival.

DELF

(diplôme d'études en langue française) is a national diploma delivered by the French Ministry of Education. You may take the DELF in an examination centre in the Tours area or in your home country. We prepare students for the DELF examinations except during July and August. For more information, dates and prices.
