Accommodation in Tours
Location of host families
Most families live in a house, or sometimes an apartment in Tours centre, a 25-minute walk maximum from CLE. During July and August we have a much greater demand and at the same time a lot of our host- families do go on holiday. The host-families’ own children are often absent for much of the summer as the majority go away on summer camp or to stay with friends and relatives. At this busy time of year students are often placed with families living outside Tours and must take a bus or bicycle (maximum 20 minutes) to reach the school. Families living outside the agglomeration are often wealthier and have a large house and grounds - students placed further away may well benefit from accommodation with a swimming pool for example. We do try to place students without their own transport as close to the school as possible. Occasionally host-families do lend their students a bicycle.
Hotel
If a student wishes to stay in a hotel, please tell us the category of hotel required and/or the price range and we will make a reservation.
Apartment or studio
We can make a reservation for a fully equipped and comfortable studio or apartment (television, telephone, crockery and linen, weekly cleaning and linen service are all included). We generally work with Appôtel whose studios and apartments were either restored or built fairly recently. Appôtel (facing the Loire and the library) is a ten-minute walk from the school. Services include free access to a washing machine and dryer. We also work with Villa Medicis, which offers the same services, is further away (20-25 minute-walk) but is located in a quiet area and is surrounded by a garden.
