Our year-round school is based at Ash Hill Road and is only three minutes' walk from the centre of town. Our Registration, Accommodation, Accounts and Sales & Marketing teams are also here to help you in any way they can. Activities

Weekly programme is offered throughout the year with a minimum of two evening activities per week and one excursion every weekend. During July and August, there are optional afternoon and evening activities organised.

Torquay has so much to offer and we want you to see as much as possible during your stay. The English Riviera enoys a warm maritime climate with mild winters and warm summers. Torquay offers spectacular coastal walks along 22 miles of cliffs, beaches and coves. Nearby is the picturesque village of Cockington with its thatched cottages, countryside park and mansion which now houses a craft centre. A short distance from Torquay, Brixham, an ancient fishing village, is a popular destination for visitors together with the National Nature Reserve at Berry Head with dramatic views over the sea.

Whatever time of year you choose to come, our student services staff are on hand to offer practical advice and suggestions about what to do in your free time. They will also help in making hotel and transport reservations, booking theatre and concert tickets and can confirm your coach ticket and flight reservations at the end of your stay.

We negotiate with local suppliers so our students get the best rates for cycle and car hire. Student discounts can be obtained from shops in the area on production of an International House Student Card. Every week the social activites manager organises an optional programme of half-day and full-day excursions, afternoon sports and evening activities.

The English school in Torquay has been established in 1982. It is located at a 10 minute walk from the centre of the city. The school is established in three Georgian buildings near the coast. The school has 20 classrooms, 6 of them are designed for classes in small groups or private tuition. There is a wireless internet connection available in the school, multimedia room with computers to use internet and study English on your own with software and a library where you can study and use reference materials quietly and for free. Our own cafeteria is a great place to meet en get to know new friends. You can get drinks and beverages at competitive prices. Our teachers and staff are very friendly. They are willing to help you with getting the most out of your course. The teachers are experienced in teaching English to foreigners. We can also help you finding activities to enjoy yourself after classes in the afternoon, night or weekend.

How to get to the school?

The school is located in the centre, only 5 minutes from the shopping area with supermarkets, cafés, bars, restaurants etc. It is very near to the coast and the railway. If you stay with a family, they will explain how to get to the school. They will take you to the nearest bus station and will provide all the information you need to arrive at the school. If you stay in a residence or hotel, you will receive a map with directions and a welcome letter.
