English Courses in Newcastle
Several types of courses are on offer to help achieve quick progress, with organised lesson plans, great teaching and small classes.
- General English Classes: 10/20hours
International House Newcastle can offer General English classes which include grammar input, reading writing and speaking for students to learn English at all levels ranging from complete beginner to higher advanced.
Students can choose either 10 or 20 hours of General English classes and can combine these with:
-Personal Study Programmes(PSP)
-English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
-Business English or
-Cambridge Examination Courses.
- Maximum of 12 students per class
(average 8).
- Business English : TOIEC Test Of English for International Communication
The test is usually arranged for the last Friday of each month. However, in some cases we may need to make different arrangements and in this case we will contact you well in advance to advise about this.
In order to book the test you need to complete the application form and email it to our Exams Administrator to informacion@learn-languages.net. Please do not hesitate to contact us via this email address if you have any queries. You will be required to pay your test fee at least 10 working days before the test date. The current test fee is £80 ( including the price of the certificate, £10). Please note that the certificate is optional and you can only book the test at the price of £70.
Why take the TOEIC test?
- Take the TOEIC test to provide proof of your English skills for prospective employers.
- Results are returned rapidly within 2-3 days.
- The test measures English language competence at all levels from beginner to advanced.
- The test is composed of 200 multiple-choice questions - 100 for listening comprehension using an audio cassette and 100 for reading comprehension. The test takes two hours to complete with an additional 20-30 minutes for explanations and administration.
- The candidates receive two distinct scores - one for the listening comprehension section and one for the reading comprehension section (5-495 points). The total test score will be between 10 and 990 points.
- The levels table provided with the scores enables candidates to situate themselves on an internationally recognised scale and describe concrete tasks they should be able to carry out at each level.

3) Academic English: Learn English for Academic Purposes with IELTS Classes
- 15 hours a week EAP/IELTS Preparation classes. 10 hours a week of classroom teaching and 5 hours a week of Individual Academic English Personal Study Programme.
- Experience teachers specially trained in teaching IELTS classesand Academic English.
- The development of study skills and learner autonomy are an integral part of this course.
- All aspects of the IELTS examination are covered.
- Help and advice with IELTS applications.
- Wide range of English language learning materials available including online and server-based materials.
- Personal Study Programmes:
- Personal Study Programmes are designed for students who have specific learning objectives.
- Experienced teachers will direct the student and monitor progress.
- There is a maximum of 12 students per class.
- Students can work at their own pace.
- Personal Study Programmes can be combined with General English 10/20.
- Cambridge examination course
- 15 hours a week Cambridge Examination Preparation courses (10 hours a week of classroom teaching and 5 hours a week of Individual Examination Programme)
- Examination courses for:
-First Certificate In English
-Cambridge Advanced Certificate
-Certificate in Proficiency of English
-Experience teachers specially trained in examination English
- Grammar input at the students' level is also integrated into the course
- A wide range of materials available including online and server-based materials
- Examination Fees :
-£70 for International House Newcastle students
-£95 for external students
6) Executive English Courses: One to One
- Executive English Coursesare tailored to meet students’ individual requirements e.g. in business, science, medicine, law, tourism, etc.
- Classes are conducted on a one-to-one basis.
- Classes are taught by highly qualified and experienced teachers.
- At the end of the course, the student receives a certificate and report from the teacher.
- The student can negotiate their programme with the teacher.
- A teaching hour in private/individual tuition is 60 minutes.
7) Aviation English
Aviation English courses are suitable for both pilots and ATCO's whose level of English is presently approximately level 3 on the ICAO scale. For more informations contact us.
