On registration, full details of the host family will be given to the student. Our families are all licensed by the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA). Both the MTA and Linguatime carry out spot checks to ensure that standards are maintained.
We request that the family has a good standard of spoken English and that their home is kept in a clean and orderly state, that a fan / heater is provided and that bed linen is changed at least once a week, towels twice a week. The host family does help out with the laundry but students also have access to a washing machine and cleaning materials
With regards to food, breakfast is usually a light meal and consists of juice, cereal, toast with butter or jam and tea or coffee. The packed lunch is optional and is made up of two sandwiches, mineral water and fruit while dinner is a three-course meal inclusive of dessert and mineral water. Dinner is served at around 7 - 8pm so that students can be free to go out in the evening, either alone or to an activity organised by the school.
For those students who require more independence and freedom, we have a range of self-catering apartments close to our school premises to choose from. All apartments are fully furnished and include a washing machine, kitchen utensils with a cooker or microwave. Apartments are subject to availability and we recommend early bookings. A large number of hotels and guesthouses can be found in close proximity to the school. Hotels on our list range from two to five stars and most have a TV in the room, air-conditioning and a swimming pool. Please contact us for more information and for prices.
The Mercury School Residence is the ideal student accommodation located in the heart of Sliema just 5 minutes walk from the school. There are 18 comfortably furnished, self-catering apartments with one, two or three bedrooms. They can be booked as shared room, single room or single apartments. The maximum number of persons that will be accommodated in one bedroom is 2. The Residence is only available to students over 18 years of age.
All apartments are serviced by a lift and have a lounge and dining area, a kitchenette, a bathroom with toilet and either a terrace, balcony or windows. The residence also provides a coin operated launderette.
