Bordeaux has been officially included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites as of 28 June 2007. This distinction recognises the beauty and unity of style of Bordeaux's architectural heritage, which has developed harmoniously over the centuries and remained remarkably well-preserved. The Bordeaux World Heritage site is the largest urban entity to be so honoured. It covers 1,810 hectares, or half of the city, from the outer boulevards to the banks of the Garonne.
Bordeaux is also well known for the good quality of its wine industry which is one of the best in France and in the whole world.
Bordeaux is served by the A10 motorway that links Paris to Spain, three hours from Paris by “TGV” high speed train and there are 200 flights per week and more than 20 direct flights to major European cities.
Students staying with host families will be met by a member of the family at the airport or train station. Please provide details concerning your arrival in Bordeaux at least 2 weeks in advance. Students staying in an apartment or hotel must make their way to their chosen accommodation either by bus or taxi.
